Now that the ATOS has a nose lever instead of a turnbuckle, this opens the possibility of a new means of setting up the glider.  Fortunately, Felix has been very clever (I assume it was Felix), and he has designed a nose catch that makes it easy to lift the wing tips off the ground.  With the tips off the ground it is easier to set up the glider and reduces wear on the tips.

Once you spread the wings and attach the trailing edge rings to the keel, you can secure the nose catch.  You don't have to put the curved tips in first.  In fact, just leave the tip bags on the wing tips to protect them.

Go to the nose and using the whack tube, lever the nose lever together to connect the two leading edges at the nose – see the photo below:

If you have retrofitted the nose lever on an earlier-produced ATOS you'll need to drill and file a small hole in your whack tube to fit the nose lever.  I found it best to offset the hole about 90° from the exist hole for the pop pip.  The whack tube fits on the nose lever in the SLOT and the HOLE fits at the PIN:

You can then pull back on the nose lever while standing behind the glider to bring the two leading edges together as in this photo, or just stand in front of the glider and push the whack tube toward the glider:

Now the wing tip are up off the ground and it is easy to insert the wing tip tubes and curved tip.  It is best to pull the sail tip back overt the end of the carbon fiber leading edges after opening up the trailing edge at the second panel fromthe end.  If you have the new Mylar inserts that attach to the wing tubes, you can easily place them on the Velcro when the sail is pulled back.

When disassembling the ATOS, push the ninth rib into the second from the end panel and through the trailing edge before you undo the lever on the curved tip.  This will make easier to roll back the sail and extract the tip tube.

When folding the tip material, just place the leading edge of the sail cloth at the tip on the top of carbon fiber leading edge, fold up the sail once underneath and place in the bag.  Keep it loose.

As you see, this thing acts as a "more deflected" aileron in most cases except for the extreme control inputs, where it in fact partly becemes a tip drag rudder (even in this case, with a fraction of a drag of comparable wings). More than to overcome a famous adverse yaw that was not found (in my opinion, due to the combination of different dihedral and differential aileron setting), it helps to correctly coordinate turn and make control more effective.

The Stalker was flown after the exposition by Jobst Baumer, in less than ideal conditions with gusts and mild turbulence.  What I have seen in terms of control was very similar to a good - handling hang glider, very nice!  The flight lasted for half an hour and finished in a perfect top landing in a far less than perfect conditions.

I think the A-frame arrangement never was an issue, as it does not affect performance.  Both possibilities have their strong and weak sides, and they just should take what they feel best
