Update on Stan's Ellenville record flight
Photos during the flight
(Ellenville, NY)

New Ellenville, New York Hang Gliding site cross country record photos interspersed with Google earth to show exactly where I am: http://home.hvc.rr.com/drummerstan/XC Photos.htm
See the photos and story of the flight at the site above. It took hours and hours of editing; weeding through 105 photos taken on that day because this I couldn’t believe it was happening. This kind of flight only happens back home in California where I was born and raised!
This new record was set on July 2nd, the day I was offered the drummer's job with the Queen Mary 2 in the Theater Band if the timing worked out.
The corrected HOLC file is: http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0/gliding/flightinfo.html?flightId=-1869174767. You can hear what pilots are saying here: http://www.hanggliding.org/viewtopic.php?t=2794&sid=3c0f7cbf8af5a350990c30f67514ae64

Flytec 5030 stolen in Brazil
Dustin would like it back
(São Paulo?, Brazil)

My vario was stolen out of Nene's garage last week by three local kids and you never know, it could turn up in some pilot's hands who reads the Oz Report.
It's your standard 5030 with an aluminum two piece clamp rather than the normal plastic one. The identifying feature, besides my name on the start up page, is a 2cm long fairly deep cut on the front of the case, lower left corner, much too deep to be hidden by any means. The cut is actually two very close parallel cuts and they are diagonal in relation to the case's seam.

Wheels
Get 'em

WHEELS – IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE YOU WILL WISH YOU HAD FLOWN WITH THEM – DON’T RISK IT!
Getting hold of a set of high quality wheels for your HG is dead easy. I got these all within a week of placing an email order. One set for my meaty ATOS VR and the other for the older Tsunami. The cash cost is low compared to writing off a wing.

I am now four weeks into my rehab, with another eight weeks to go. I am wishing like crazy that I had flown with a set of wheels. As it will be around the 12th Sept barring no further setbacks before I can get into the air again, go mountain biking, swimming, canoeing, etc., not to mention the seventeen sessions of physical therapy.
Life is too short and way too much fun to go through this sort of aggravation because I was too lazy to buy a set of wheels is crazy! Contact your dealer today. Chances are you will have them ready for the weekend. It’s only going to be time before you start shouting at yourself for being a Muppet.

Check out this hot little camera. It would be excellent for recording flights. Small, lightweight and high quality. Suggested price is going to be in the $800 range: http://www.vio-pov.com/

Listen to Floyd
Listen to the interview with Floyd Landis
(St. Jean de Maurienne, France)

"I'm going to attack today," I told Dave Zabriskie. "At the base of the first climb. Don't know if you heard."
We were standing over our bikes in the tiny Alpine village of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne before the seventeenth stage of the 2006 Tour de France. Thousands of fans pressed against the metal barricades that kept them off the narrow streets and gave the 143 riders still in the race room to sign in, grab a final energy bar, and prepare for another day in hell.
Floyd does very well on NPR. He says that cycling should pull out of the Olympics, out of WADA and out of USADA. Right on!
