Here is an interesting billboard, seen in Petaluma, Calif. Clover-Stornetta Dairy has been using their mascot, Clo, in a long-running series of ads featuring puns. One of their best was "Tip Clo through your two lips".
Here's more to the story on Clo. If you click on the link below, then choose the 4th billboard for 1989, you'll see the 'tip Clo through your two lips" billboard. And all the others are there too.

Did they change the rules in the middle of the contest?
Tue, Jun 26 2007, 11:11:38 pm EDTPre-Europeans 2007
The meet director originally scored the stopped task. Apparently (according to my correspondent) that was the rule. Then the meet director received a complaint (from, guess who, ah, erh, the Austrian team).
Then the rules get changed (according to my witness). He writes:
Of course there is a lot to say about mandatory start gates, stopping a task in relation to safety and fairness. But our opinion is that you can't change rules during a comp.
Everybody agreed on the rules as explained in the first briefing. Maybe not everybody figured out what the consequences would be in case of stopping a task. Suddenly, on day five everybody did realize it and started to complain.
That's good because in a training comp you want to try new things and get things sharp, but don't ask to change the rules retrospectively. Rules are never totally fair for everybody in every circumstance. As long as they are clear and the organisation upholds them, you have a fair comp.
As a compromise we suggested to score task five giving each pilot the same amount of flying/scoring time. We didn't get enough support for that idea.

Flying in Michigan

We've had a great time flying here the last couple of days. Lots of super nice cumulus development and southerly winds. Today Mark Bolt and I flew to the northeast south of the Flint airspace and north of the Pontiac airspace. The goal was to get to Lake Michigan but we only got about 40 miles: http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0/para/flightinfo.html?flightId=1793782503.
The flight started at around 3 PM. We had both gone down in earlier attempts. The cu's almost overdeveloped early (high towers at 11 AM), but then settled down, then blued out, then came back for our second flights.
I'm flying a Wills Wing Sport 2 - 155 and was keeping up with and often leading Mark in his topless Aeros Stealth. We both landed in the same field after a big jump to the next cloud and not finding lift there. Mark was impressed about how well the Sport 2 did on glide.
Things are great here at Cloud 9.
